Diveme Fiji Scuba Diving - Sports Fishing Sport Fishing

Fiji is home to some of the most pristine and beautiful reefs in the world. The waters in and around Kadavu, Beqa Lagoon, Vatulele and Cakau Leka Leka are famed for their abundance of fish and particularly big game fish with world game fishing records being set out of these waters.

For the big boys we have Tuna, Mahi-mahi, Spanish Mackerel, Sailfish and the smaller fry Coral Trout, Giant Trevally, Large Long Toms, Barracuda and Reef Snapper. All provide excellent sport for the light tackler or fly angler.

Charters for sport fishing are readily available but some to be noted are at Matangi Island, Outrigger on the Lagoon, Matamanoa Island, Yasawa Island Resort, Jean-Michele Cousteau Resort and Matava Resort.

Be aware that some operators focus on ‘Catch & Release’ and will only keep a catch that is of World Record size and weight.

Diveme Fiji Scuba Diving - Surfing Surfing

The best surf in Fiji is outside the reef passages. Most surfing spots are only accessible by boat with some requiring booking ahead as essential. Tavarua with Cloudbreak and Namotu with Namotu Left (bookings essential) are world class surfing sites and as such you need to know what you’re doing if you’re going to have a go at these two.

Other sites are Wilks, Desperation, Mini Break and Swimming
Pool all again accessed only by boat.

Other less renowned sites are located at Malolo and Wilkes Passages in the Mamanuca Group and Frigate Passage in Beqa Lagoon.

Due to tropical weather conditions, surfing is an all-year round sport.

Diveme Fiji Scuba Diving - Hiking and Bird Watching Hiking and Bird Watching

Fiji has many wonderful National Parks and forests that have trails for trekking though our fabulous rainforests. Grab your back pack, a picnic lunch and a bottle of water and set out to explore the natural, unspoilt beauty of Fiji’s lesser known side. You can trek independently or organize to go with a guide.

Bouma National Park in Taveuni has treks to various waterfalls, the most famous being Bouma Waterfall.

Situated on the coastal boundary of Bouma National Heritage Park, this walk gives you the chance to see a mixture of remote beaches, rainforests and traditional gardens. Although the walk takes about three to four hours there and back, it is really worth making a day of it.

Tavoro Waterfalls, also located in Bouma National Park is a beautiful 3 hour return hike. Three trails of increasing difficulty take you up into the hills above the village of Korovou and past the awe-inspiring waterfalls of the Tavoro River. The trail starts out with a 10-minute walk to the first and most famous waterfall of Fiji, Bouma Falls, and then continues up a series of switchbacks past gorgeous panoramic views to the second and third falls.

The Vidawa Rainforest Hike has a guided tour of Taveuni as taught to them by their forefathers; full of local history, knowledge and wildlife.

The guide will explain how they lived off the land and shaped it to meet their needs and how they have come to realise the need to conserve and protect their forests for future generations.
