Taking the high ground on Vatuwiri Plantation

At Vatuwiri you will arrive from the Taveuni airport via a one hour drive along some of the most beautiful coastal roadways in the world. As you pass through the Vatuwiri Estate gates, you are entering into an entirely different world. It's a massive Plantation, a Farm, a Wildlife Preserve, and an Ocean and Eco Activity Wonderland the scope and likes of which does not exist anywhere else in Fiji and quite likely, the world.

Walking the walks - Bouma and Lavena

Taveuni is all about nature, natural wonders both above and below the water, peace and serenity. These two attractions sit pretty much side by side in the rugged eastern side of Taveuni which makes them a realistic proposition to be tackled over a couple of days.

Just up the road you will find the Waitabu Marine Park.  This has been declared a “no fishing” sanctuary for fish and snorkelers.

Island hopping

Word travels fast in the out islands! I had only just climbed off the ferry from Vanua Levu and dropped my gear in my room when I got the call....

The good folks at Matagi were insisting that my Taveuni visit would not be complete without a visit to the eastern islands of Matagi, Qamea and Lavina and were offering to pick me up the next day and show me around....
